served as a nuclear submarine officer aboard the USS Hartford before volunteering for duty in Iraq under the Individual Augmentee program. As a nuclear-trained officer, he worked as an energy-sector liaison between coalition military forces, the U.S. Department of State and the Iraqi Government from 2006 to 2007. During this time in Iraq, he observed the low-point of the insurgency and the beginnings of the surge under General Petraeus.
In 2008, Christopher curated an exhibition of Iraqi art in New York City before moving to Italy to study International Energy Policy at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. He currently lives in Washington, D.C., studying, contributing to The Daily Beast and launching Intercept, a creative journal of international relations. Christopher's first full-length book, My Nuclear Family, will be released by Alfred A. Knopf in the Fall of 2010.
